Job Description

Reporting to the General Manager of Cell Insurance Short Term division, the main purpose of the job shall be to conduct risk surveys, valuations, claim assessments, equipment maintenance, projects management and to offer technical engineering advice and guidance to external and internal clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Conduct pre-risk and post-risk surveys for clients to support underwriting decisions and ensure effective risk management strategies are in place.
 Perform detailed evaluations of client premises, processes, and assets to identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities.
 Prepare comprehensive risk survey reports, providing detailed findings and actionable recommendations.
 Perform pre-renewal valuations for motor and non-motor assets, ensuring sums insured are adequate and reflective of current market values.
 Review and assess claims to ensure they are accurate, fair, and aligned with policy terms.
 Conduct post-loss assessments to evaluate the extent of damage and recommend appropriate settlements.
 Collaborate with the Salvage Committee to oversee salvage administration and recovery processes.
 Review reports from assessors to ensure adherence to internal risk standards and regulatory requirements.
 Develop and enforce compliance protocols for risk management practices within the organization.
 Oversee the maintenance of equipment and buildings to ensure that they remain functional, safe, and compliant with risk standards.
 Implement and monitor safety measures to reduce risks to insured properties and assets.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Engineering (Mining OR Mechanical OR Electrical OR
• Industrial and Manufacturing OR Civil)
• Certificate of Competence in Short Term Insurance
• Risk management qualification is an added advantage
• Have at least 3 years of experience in an engineering environment.
• Possess exposure to mining and/or insurance environments, which is a distinct advantage.
• Think conceptually and have solid technical knowledge in risk management.
• Exhibit good technical knowledge of insurance principles.
• Demonstrate strong business development skills and a flair for innovation.
• Be articulate with excellent communication skills.
• Have strong reporting and presentation abilities.
• Possess exceptional interpersonal skills and a high level of computer literacy.
• Be analytical with a keen attention to detail.
