1. Introduction
FHI 360 is seeking to engage a documentation specialist with experience in developing program impact stories to provide such services for its Mhuri/Imuli project implemented over 5 years in Manicaland Province.
FHI360 is an international organisation that works through partnering with governments, the private sector and civil society to bring about positive social change and to provide lifesaving health care, quality education and opportunities for meaningful economic participation in more than 60 countries across the globe, including Zimbabwe. We do this by using research and evidence to design and deliver innovative programs that change behaviors, increase access to services and improve lives.
About the Mhuri/Imuli Project
Mhuri/Imuli is a five-year project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The project aims to improve maternal, new-born, child health and family
planning (MNCH-FP) in Zimbabwe.The project team works closely with the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) and the Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council (ZNFPC). The project name is made up ofZimbabwean vernacular words “Mhuri/Imuli” meaning “family,” reflecting the project’s aspiration to advance comprehensive family health. FHI 360 is the prime partner and Family AIDS Caring Trust (FACT) is a sub partner responsible for increasing use of MNCH-FP services, targeting hardto-reach populations as well as strengthening community systems and linkages for integrated
MNCH-FP services.
The project objectives are:
• To improve demand for and the availability of quality MNCH-FP services in Manicaland Province and to increase access to a broad range of quality family planning services nationwide through outreach services
• To increase the use of MNCH-FP services, targeting hard-to-reach populations
• To strengthen community systems and linkages for integrated MNCH-FP services
• To improve the MOHCC’s and ZNFPC’s capacity for MNCH-FP policy implementation
3. Statement of Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to collect, compile and produce outstanding success stories/case studies in all districts of Manicaland provincewhere the Mhuri/Imuli Project is being implemented. The service provider will work with the project staff to identify and document success stories/case
studies which demonstrate the impact of the project in the target communities.
A total of 12 stories are expected and the distribution will be as follows
▪ 3 stories about the MNCH project component
▪ 3 stories about the Family Planning component
▪ 3 stories about community interventions and their impact
▪ 3 stories about Malaria and COVID-19 interventions
These stories will be compiled into a newsletter that shall be distributed electronically and also in printed hard copies. As such, overall results from end of project results also need to be captured as part of this newsletter. Part of these stories will include 2 photo stories. FHI360 will provide examples of proffered structure for these photo stories.
Additionally
▪ A photo story in which community members who benefited from the program share their experience (shorter version)
▪ A detailed photo story with full contextual descriptions of community interaction with the program including challenges, processes, and successes
. Qualification and experience
▪ The service provider team/individual should have at least 5 years of writing experience in story writing in a creative way for a diverse audience.
▪ Significant experience in writing, editing and documenting human interest stories for different audiences is prerequisite.
▪ Excellent knowledge, experiences and skills in editing and photography. A basicunderstanding of MNCH and Family planning issues will be appreciated
