Job Description

Reporting to Mobile Team Leader Station Harare Period Five — year fixed term contract

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Result Areas
1. Performing venesection on blood donors.
2. Collecting samples for laboratory tests.
3. Performing plasma exchange procedures.
4. Compiling periodic (daily, weekly and monthly or as needed) sectional reports for decision making.
5. Ordering consumables.
6. Inducting and capacitating staff.
7. Validating and verifying equipment.
8. Checking the integrity of blood bags.
9. Reporting vehicle/equipment faults/breakdowns.
10. Counselling blood donors (pre and post donation) referring complex cases for further management.
11. Bleeding clients for paternity test samples.
12. Inducting Peer Promoters on the blood donation process.
13. Performing apheresis donation procedures.
14. Conducting blood donation process talks at the collection site.
15. Conducting pre-donation screening according to set procedures.
16. Verifying donor identity before bleeding, recording donor information and correct allocation and labelling of blood donation bags.
17. Giving appropriate donor care after bleeding, issuing of donor incentives and newsletters (Thank-you letters).
18. Identifying and managing all adverse reactions on blood donors.

Qualifications and Experience


1. Degree /Diploma in nursing.
2. A qualification in counseling.
3. Valid practicing certificate.
4. Minimum of 5 ordinary level passes including English and Mathematics.
5. Have at least 2 years' experience in a similar position.
