Job Description

A growing and stable Micro Finance company with International Alliance is the services of a recoveries officer. This role will be responsible for monitoring loans falling into arrears and ensuring recovery of all amounts handed over to the Recoveries section. Reporting to the National Sales Manager; the roles and responsibilities will include:

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Reviewing the non-performing loan portfolio daily and taking actions to recover the outstanding loans.
2. Preparing regular reports on status of non-performing loan accounts for portfolio analysis and subsequent presentation to Management.
3. Building and maintaining rapport with delinquent clients at the same time ensuring that the outstanding amounts are paid.
4. Negotiating settlements with Loan accounts under default as guided by the Credit Policy.
5. Co-ordinating with external debt collection agencies and get periodic reports from them on cases assigned to them.
6. Keeping updated records of accounts downgraded and providing statistics when necessary.
7. Assisting National Sales Manager in developing & implementing policies and procedures related to collection and recoveries.
8. Training, developing and motivating the Credit/Field staff on effective recoveries strategies to ensure that the team achieves optimum level of collection and recovery.

Qualifications and Experience

• A business management degree in Business Management, Credit Management; Accounting or related field.
• At least 3 years' experience in a field-based collections and recovery role in Microfinance/ SME lending.
• Knowledge of Microfinance, and Reserve Bank regulations governing micro-finance institutions.
• Capacity to work under time pressure.
• Analytical mind with a clear and demonstrable bias towards numbers and ratios.
• Ability to operate sensitively in multicultural environment and develop effective working relations with colleagues and clients.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and multi-lingual an added advantage.
• A clean class 4 driver's licence.
