Job Description

To maintain and reconcile assigned bank accounts to the general ledger on daily, weekly and monthly basis in a timely and efficient manner in line with laid down policies and procedure. To assist with ad-hoc duties as required within the unit.

Duties and Responsibilities

Main Focus Areas
• Accurate and timely reconciling of accounts (Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations within set deadlines).
• Financial management and cost containment (Maintain a robust reconciliation framework to ensure the flagging of non-reconciling items).
• Internal stakeholder engagement (Engage with business units to review nonreconciling items and check for reasonableness and correct disclosures).
• Maintain a detailed list of accounts to be reconciled and their frequencies.
• Engage with line management and relevant stakeholders to report the status of reconciliation in line with policy.
• Adherence to standardized processes and ensure efficiencies are implemented as directed
• Be proactive in identifying opportunities to enhance efficiencies, automate where possible and contain operational costs e.g., printing, overtime.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and Work Experience

• Relevant tertiary education in Accounting, Finance and Banking and Finance or equivalent
• 12 months of experience in a Banking Environment
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Job Related Knowledge
• Knowledge of legal and regulatory issues typical for the country’s banking system.
