Job Description

Secondary Book Press (Pvt) Ltd is a leading independent publishing company supplying New Curriculum textbooks for primary and secondary schools in Zimbabwe.

Secondary Book Press (Pvt) Ltd is inviting applications from suitably qualified personnel to fill in the full-time post of Quality control Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent will report to the Production Manager. The duties and responsibilities include:
• Establish/Interpret, build upon, and comply with company quality assurance standards.
• Carefully maintain a complaint and nonconformance record and tracking systems.
• Determining in-house quality procedures, standards and seeing that specifications are met during the production processes ie Printing, Binding, Cutting and Packaging.
• Plan and execute inspection of all produced books ensuring that only the quality books
proceed to the warehouse.
• Checking that raw materials or components involved in the production process are of suitable quality.
• Performing stress tests that expose the product to increased temperature, vibration, humidity or any other variables that the product will/may face in the market.
• Communicating with the production team about existing defects and how to prevent them in future products
• Recording, analyzing, and distributing statistical information to management
• Analyze and investigate product complaints or reported quality issues to ensure closure in
accordance with company guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience

Requirements and qualifications
• Relevant bachelor’s degree or diploma in Science, engineering, mathematics or related field.
• No less than 1 year of experience in quality control systems preferably in the printing industry.
• Experience in industrial printing is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of quality assurance terminology, methods, and tools
