PSYCHOLOGY STUDENT ON ATTACHMENT/INTERN

Job Description

Applications are invited from candidates for attachment/internship as an Intern Psychologist.

The Adult Rape Clinic (ARC) is a Registered Non-Governmental Organization that offers medical and psychosocial support care to survivors of sexual gender-based violence (SGBV). ARC is looking for a Psychologist Intern/Attachee to be stationed in Harare. ARC’s employment policy respects gender and human rights and offers opportunities to all without discrimination.
ARC has a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual exploitation and abuse and violations of child safeguarding values.

Job Description
This position requires a highly motivated and mature individual. S/he should have the ability to work under minimum supervision and under pressure, with initiative, excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with diverse professionals. The right candidate should be able to work with clients of diverse age groups while exhibiting befitting registers. The incumbent will report to the Psychologist.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Participate in relevant case conferences, in-services, and other educational experiences.
 Assist in groups and sessions led by the Supervisor or other qualified clinicians.
 Lead therapeutic sessions.
 Provide, under guidance, individual and group psychotherapy for survivors and their caregivers.
 Perform, under guidance, psychological assessments and evaluations.
 Perform, under guidance, somatic self-care techniques to survivors, care givers, and site staff.
 Participate in offering debriefing and distressing services to staff.
 Collect and record accurate and informative data for monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
 Investigate issues and seek guidance from the Supervisor for informed and appropriate interventions.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications
 Studying towards a Psychology Degree at a local tertiary institution.
 Knowledge and proficient user of Microsoft Office and Excel productivity tools.
