Job Description

The project vaccination officers will provide programmatic and monitoring and evaluation oversite for the vaccination campaign that will be supported by ZACH in the selected districts of the two provinces of Mashonaland West (Hurungwe, Sanyati, Makonde, Chegutu, Zvimba) and Midlands (Kwekwe, Gweru, Gokwe North, Gokwe South). The provincial vaccination officer will work with provincial and district health teams to facilitate smooth implementation of the project from vaccine supply, storage, cold chain maintenance, actual vaccination, management and reporting of adverse events, support and supervision and quality reporting of program data. This post will directly support and supervise locum nurses conducting actual vaccination. This individual will be the primary contact regarding the Covid-19 vaccination program being conducted in the province.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Planning and coordinating COVID-19 static and outreach vaccine administration activities in the supported districts
 Overseeing coordination to ensure vaccine availability, adherence to cold chain and adverse event monitoring systems
 Managing the program COVID-19 resources for the organization within the implementing provinces and districts
 Assist with data-driven recruitment, orientation, deployment, and performance management of all locum Nurses for COVID-19 Vaccination activities
 Submit timely requests and acquittals for resources in line with financial management policies and other relevant SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) to support program implementation
 In liaison with the district health executive, map and plan integrated COVID-19 vaccination outreaches
 Supervision and coordination of ZACH hired and MoHCC vaccination staff
 Support capacity building for project and implementation staff on Covid-19 and Covid-19 vaccination and maintain staff training and competency records
 Collaboration with other Implementing partners (MoHCC, Red-Cross, UZ etc.) to ensure synchronization of activities like demand creation and social mobilization etc.
 Ensure availability of transport for outreach vaccination administration activities up to waste management (where required)
 Work with SIE and DHIOs on provision of M&E tools for reporting COVID-19 Vaccination activities including vaccine cards to record client vaccinations in supported districts
 Oversee and ensure proper documentation in all relevant registers, support routine data collection, daily, weekly, and monthly and ensure timely reporting
 Analyze programmatic data with the M&E officer and give feedback to relevant stakeholders
 Facilitate daily, weekly, monthly reporting of vaccination activities, this includes compilation of routine and ad hoc reports as required and submit these to relevant stakeholders
 Participate in District level COVID-19 meetings and TWGs and represent ZACH at relevant forums
 Maintain COVID-19 Infection Prevention and Control Protocols.
 Timely identification of challenges and facilitate mitigation to improve program performance

Qualifications and Experience

 Basic Nursing Diploma/Degree or any relevant medical qualification
 Current registration with relevant professional bodies (e.g., Nurses Council of Zimbabwe)
 Post-basic qualification in community health, public health, project management, health services administration or similar will be an added advantage
 At least 2 years' experience working in Emergency preparedness and response programs
 An understanding of the MOHCC structures and pillars in COVID-19 response and other epidemic prone diseases is essential
 Proficiency in MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project Planning, Outlook)
