Context of the position
Established in 1949, SOS Children's Villages International (CVI) is a dynamic, international social development organization working globally to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of children without parental care and those who are at the risk of losing it.
SOS Children's Villages Association of Zimbabwe is a member of SOS International - a worldwide children's social welfare organisation, providing vulnerable children without homes with a family home and educational opportunities as well as strengthening families to reduce poverty.
Mission of the position:
The role is aimed at implementing climate smart agriculture and energy solutions realizing 3 outcomes; i) Government, Private sector, CSOs and Communities promote climate smart and eco-friendly green energy solutions; ii) Resilient and empowered families have increased income and food security; and iii) Women, young people and children effectively manage their environment. The role will strengthen Community structures on climate change and green economy, build partnerships with private sector on green economy, establish climate smart and green economy community hubs, establish biogas systems as well as support school-based climate smart IGAs. To improve household income and food security, the project proposes training on green economy and climate change, support for registration of businesses for women and young people, support families and young people with startup kits and support climate smart vocational kills for young people. The role will also support establishment and strengthening of in school Children’s ecological/environmental clubs, facilitate men, women and youths’ access to climate smart environmental management skills and train caregivers in household management for the target group to effectively manage their environment.
Key performance areas and main responsibilities:
1. PROGRAMME DELIVERY AND MANAGEMENT SUPPORT - Effectively manage programme activities and resources relevant to each stage of the project management cycle to deliver Value for Money (VFM) and results in compliance with project concept note and results framework.
2. Design and Implementation- contributes to the development of project proposals in the green energy sector and leads the implementation of all related project outputs.
3. Risk Management- identifies and assesses environmental and operational risks and exposures in delivery chains, including fraud, fiduciary and safeguarding risks, applies appropriate mitigation and escalation measures until assurance is established.
4. Partnership Development and Management- will develop and maintain strong relationships with partners and communities. Will organise partner and community meetings as necessary. Will review partner compliance and reporting, identifying areas of concern to project team and recommending remedial actions where required.
5. Project Monitoring and Evaluation: will contribute to Annual Reviews/Project Completion Review exercises, including drafting all or portions of ToRs and final reports, as agreed within project team. Will organise field visits and ensure findings feed back into project implementation plan and project results framework. Responsible for reporting on all project related outputs.
6. Assets- lead on effective management of programme assets (e.g. biogas systems) undertaking several periodic asset monitoring/spot checks for programmes within timelines agreed.
7. Financial Management - Effectively manage the financial resources, processes, and systems for the green energy programme to achieve Value for Money (VFM), transparency, accountability, budget utilization ceilings, throughout the project cycles and in compliance with internal audit standards and requirements. Provides accurate financial information, ensuring credible budgets and forecasts; engages partners to ensure budgeting, forecasting and expenditure matches progress and milestones.

Qualifications
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree Advanced degree in environmental sciences, business administration, climate change, agricultural economics, or a related field.
• Experience of 3 years (Masters) or 5 years’ (Degree) in providing project management support, leading implementation, monitoring and evaluation of youth empowerment projects and related assignments.
• Proven experience in
• Proven understanding in climate change issues, green energy solutions,sustainable livelihoods solutions and working with youth and young people.
• Good organization and coordination skills, with experience interrelationships between different stakeholders.
• Ability to perform under tight deadlines.
• Strong communication skills.
• Class 3 Drivers licence and ability to ride a motorbike a must
