Project Manager – MFA Education and SRHR/SGBV Project

Location – Bulawayo Program Area

Reporting to the Program Area Manager, the Project Manager (PM) will cover Bulilima District and will lead a range of functions necessary for effective and efficient implementation of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland (MFA) – funded COVID-19 prevention and response through Education and SRHR services Project comprised mainly of Education in Emergencies and SRHR thematic areas.

Duties and Responsibilities

Accountabilities:
• Manages and Coordinates the delivery of the project with the overall responsibility of achieving project targets and ensuring timeliness of the actions.
• Provides technical guidance and leadership to the project team in effective planning, delivery and coordination of project interventions across all areas in line with identified needs/priorities.
• Plans and coordinates project needs assessments, ensuring coordination with Country Office M & E, collaborating partners, local networks and relevant stakeholders.
• Ensures that project interventions are aligned with the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies Minimum Standards (INEE MS) and other relevant global (CPMS, SPHERE) and national guidelines
• Provides direction for the effective monitoring of the project to gather the necessary evidence and knowledge to strengthen project delivery and inform wider practice in relation to Plan International’s work in programming.
• Conducts frequent field visits aimed at identifying opportunities, constraints and adjustments required including enhancement of existing capacities.
• Ensuring regular narrative and financial reporting on the project to the Head of Programs and Program Leadership Team as required via the Program Area Manager.
• Represents Plan in Coordination Mechanisms, Government Structures and Non-governmental networks as needed and agreed with the Head of Programs
• Promotes and abides by Plan policies and procedures including but not limited to: Gender equality mainstreaming, Safeguarding Policy; Code of Conduct and the related mandatory reporting responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience

Knowledge:
• Advanced University Degree in Education or related field
• Demonstrate proficiency and experience in EiE and SRHR/SGBV programming for adolescents and young people.
• At least 3 years in management position including developing and backstopping EiE projects.
• Extensive experience working with local partners and EiE response actors at Government, INGO and UN levels.
• Knowledge and understanding of the humanitarian context in Zimbabwe.

Skills:
• Sound up to date knowledge of Education/EiE, SRHR and SGBV delivery in humanitarian contexts
• Demonstrates managerial and technical expertise in implementing EiE and SRHR/SGBV projects
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
• Ability to build strong relationships with collaborating partners and stakeholders, focusing on impact and results
• Ability to work under pressure, within a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent inter-personal skills, and ability to monitor progress against milestones and deadlines
