Project Name: Community Led-Climate Resilient Agriculture and Advocacy for Food Security in Gutu District

Job Summary
The Project Leader will provide strategic and operational leadership for a rural development initiative aimed at strengthening food and nutrition security for 500 smallholder farmers in Gutu District, Zimbabwe. The role involves guiding the establishment of 10 inclusive Farmers’ Clubs, supporting their registration as cooperatives, and overseeing the creation of Community Adaptation Centers. The Project Leader will ensure effective adoption of climate‑resilient agricultural practices, improved financial inclusion, enhanced market access, and strengthened community advocacy for adaptation strategies.
1)Ensure effective implementation of all project activities in line with organizational policies and donor requirements.
2)Develop, manage and regularly update project plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure efficient delivery of outcomes.
3)Monitor and document the progress of farmers and Farmers’ Clubs, preparing accurate reports for stakeholders and donors.
4) Coordinate with district stakeholders to facilitate quarterly progress reviews and strengthen collaborative partnerships.
5) Conduct regular assessments of emerging project risks and provide timely advice and recommendations to DAPP Zimbabwe leadership
Key Attributes
1)Strong knowledge of Zimbabwe’s National Climate Change Response Strategy and the Drought Resilience, Adaptation and Management Policy Framework.
2)Familiarity with the socio-economic and environmental context of Gutu Rural District.
3)Clear understanding of Farmers’ Clubs concepts and/or Farmer Field Schools as participatory learning and mobilization models.
4)Proven experience in strengthening financial inclusion, conducting value chain analysis, promoting value addition and creating sustainable market linkages.
5)Demonstrated ability to develop vibrant, inclusive and accountable civil society structures that empower marginalized groups.
6)Knowledge of safeguarding protocols and practical experience in conducting risk assessments to ensure protection of vulnerable populations.
1)Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Community Development or Project Management.
2)Strong computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office packages and familiarity with digital data collection and analysis tools such as Kobo Toolbox and SPSS Statistical Packages.
3)Valid and clean Class 3 Driver’s License.
4)Minimum of ten years’ experience working with farmers in rural areas, with proven ability to support inclusive agricultural and community development initiatives.
