Job Description

Position Summary
The Project Coordinator will ensure the overall in-country project implementation coordination for all project activities in the Tsholotsho, Nkayi and Chimanimani districts, contribute to the strategic development of the Education in Emergencies and Disaster preparedness activities of the assigned project, Plan Project Implementation activities and ensure knowledge transfer (reporting) and Cooperate with relevant stakeholders, including external contractors, local authorities, Education Authorities, Communities and Consortium partners (World Vision and Christian Blind Mission.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure the overall in-country project coordination for all activities of the project/program in the districts; Co-ordinate implementation of technical, financial and administrative aspects of the project; Plan and Monitor the project operational processes and report to HoP; Follow-up on the project/program area monitoring system in close cooperation with the monitoring team; Regularly monitor the execution of Project Implementation related activities and results, provide feed-back to the Management and district team leaders; Compile and document relevant information for collaborative activities and missions; Support short-term consultants and experts of the project/program to fulfil their tasks during their assignment; Contribute to the project’s/program’s strategic development; Provide technical advice on Project Implementation to the Field officers; Participate in identifying needs for external support and advice; Propose new initiatives/ improvements to ensure project achieves its goals; Monitor the project progress and provide feed-back to the HoP; Plan Project Implementation related project/program activities and ensure knowledge transfer; Coordinate the planning of project activities within the defined area; Assist in developing project designs, including the preparation, organization, and moderation of planning exercises; Formulate project action plans and synchronize between the planning and budgeting system; In coordination with Consortium technical advisors, develop technical concepts, guidelines, manuals, and procedures; Prepare inputs to project/program reports and publications for all required reports; Support research and study activities; Cooperate with relevant stakeholders, including
external contractors, local authorities, communities, and partners; Develop and maintain contacts with all relevant provincial and district stakeholders as well as Consortium partners; Cooperate with government institutions, non-government organizations, and the local community; Represent the project/program at appropriate levels; Act as liaison to and cooperate with other GAA/WHH projects/programs in the districts of operation; Collect and circulate relevant information, disseminate project experiences; Leadership; Manage performance of Field Officers; Ensure adequate resource allocation/provision for field activities; Coordinate availing of technical support for Education in Emergencies and Disaster Preparedness activities; Report all security relevant issues and information to the Security Officers and the Management.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications, skills and experience required:

Advanced University degree in a course related to the program’s goals, such as Development Studies, Disaster Risk Management (Master’s or postgraduate studies);At least seven years of relevant experience in the areas related to disaster risk reduction, forecast based financing, natural hazards, vulnerability assessment, climate change and education in emergencies in a similar position within a national or international NGO with at least 2 years leadership experience; Familiarity with disaster risk management institutions and governance concepts, emergency preparedness and recovery strategies and use of Crisis Modifier; Proven record of increasingly responsible experience in planning and managing technical cooperation strategies and relevant learning, knowledge management and. advocacy programmes in disaster reduction, emergency response and education in emergencies; Application of theoretical knowledge in the design, management and evaluation of complex, multi-disciplinary capacity building programmes involving national governments, civil society and international organizations; Well proven analytical and writing skills; Motor driving skills with defensive driving training; Demonstrated abilities and contributions to policy and guideline formulation, resource mobilization, team building, team leadership and management,
