The Manicaland Centre for Public Health Research at the Biomedical Research and Training Institute (BRTI) conducts scientific population-based research on the incidence and control of HIV and other communicable and non-communicable diseases in east Zimbabwe. Current research projects include a trial of a peer-led intervention to increase men’s use of HIV testing and Pre-exposure Prophylaxis for HIV prevention and a study on how different patterns of use of biomedical and alternative healthcare services influence levels of morbidity and mortality. The Manicaland Centre seeks a flexible, motivated and dynamic individual to assist with the administration of its activities.
Major Responsibilities:
Coordinate applications for ethical and regulatory approvals required for the Centre’s research projects.
Perform human resource functions for the Centre’s personnel.
Arrange payment of all Centre bills such as for rentals, water and electricity.
Undertake procurement of materials and equipment for fieldwork activities.
Distribute project materials and assets to the users.
Ensure that the Centre’s field office, staff accommodation and property in Mutasa and Harare are well maintained and in good working order.
Organizing conferences and workshops.
Supervise general hand staff.
Serve as personal assistant to the Centre Director and Research Operations Director.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Higher National Diploma or Degree in Business Administration or similar.
• At least 2 years of experience in a similar role.
• Previous experience of working on research projects is desirable.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels.
• Excellent organisational and management skills.
• Flexible to travel out of duty station as and when required.
• Clean Class 4 Drivers license required.
