Mwenezi Development Training Centre (MDTC) is a local based NGO operating in Mwenezi, Masvingo, Chiredzi, and Beitbridge districts. MDTC implements diversified programs to enhance the livelihoods of vulnerable communities. The following vacant positions are available in our organization.
POST 1:PROGRAMMES MANAGER (Mwenezi x 1)
Reporting to the Board Chairperson
Main Responsibility
Responsible for supervising a wide range of programmes and ensuring the overall success of each programme. He/She will supervise the Projects Coordinator and Finance and Administration Officer, and inform them of progress and performance. He/ She will ensure every programme and project is delivered successfully and adds the highest possible value to the organization. Overseeing development of the MDTC Programmes and projects and the necessary operating capacity, ensuring the development and adherence to policy in the relevant aspects of the MDTC. Overseeing the effective implementation of Centre programmes and raising funds for the requirements of the MDTC.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Initiate and set goals for programmes according to the strategic objectives of the organization.
• Implement organizational policies as directed by the Board and ensure that Centre programmes are fulfilling the MDTC mission and objectives.
• Developing the strategic plan for the MDTC and conducting regular reviews on the implementation of the strategic plan.
• Ensuring that MDTC participatory management structures work as per the constitution and members’ expectations and to ensure that MDTC remains effectively under local indigenous control.
• Devise evaluation strategies to monitor performance and determine the need for improvements.
• Coordinating and fostering teamwork.
• Receiving and reviewing detailed reports on the programmes or projects from the Projects coordinator for submission to the board and donors.
• Ensure programmes operations activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies.
• Ensure strict adherence to PVO guidelines.
• Share a common vision with the board and stakeholders providing insights to the board on the future financial situation and possible strategies to contain threats.
• Prepare the consolidated annual plan and budget for the MDTC with inputs from heads of departments and submit the same to the MDTC Board for approval to ensure that all MDTC activities are well planned.
• Preparation of project proposals for fundraising and dealing with donors at all levels in order to raise funds to finance the planned MDTC Programmes and general development of the institution.
• Managing the human resources of MDTC in terms of programme implementation, appointments and discharging staff, staff development and administration of the general terms and conditions of service to ensure that all programmes are adequately staffed at all times and that staff morale is high.
• Managing the financial and material resources of MDTC in terms of ensuring effective planning and adherence to plans and budgets at all levels.
• Developing and implementing an effective system of internal controls to ensure that the planned programmes of MDTC are implemented effectively, the budget of MDTC is followed well and all monies are accounted for and the human resources of MDTC are put to optimum use.
• Liaising with government, private companies and other NGO’s in an effort to market the programmes of the MDTC and mobilize adequate support for the organization to operate from an informed position and in a supportive environment.
• Conduct quarterly membership drive.
• Conduct Area Training Committee Annual Review workshops.
Job Specifications
• 5 O’ level passes including English, Mathematics and Science.
• At least two A’ level subjects.
• Degree in Business Management and Leadership.
• Master’s in Business Administration in Strategic Leadership, in Development Studies paired with professional certificates like Project Management, in Monitoring and Evaluation, in corporate Governance, in Public Administration and Leadership.
• A Certificate or Diploma in Accounting is a must.
• A certificate or Diploma in Project Management is an added advantage.
• Proven experience in managerial positions is a must.
• Vast knowledge of working with the donor community and Training and Development at the managerial level.
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Mature person, able to work under pressure.
• Must be computer literate and competent.
• At least five years’ experience in rural development or related work at managerial level.
• Must have a general understanding of administration, training and development, programmes and projects, and finance, including interpreting financial reports for managerial purposes
