To lead the procurement/purchasing function of Saint-Gobain Construction Products Zimbabwe and drive strategic sourcing and compliance within the business unit and also align to the group practices

Duties and Responsibilities

o Leadership/ Management
• Direct and coordinate the activities of the procurement department, build,
manage and empower a team of subordinates to implement the procurement strategies, policies and procedures.
• Lead according to the culture and values and in accordance with the Saint-Gobain Principles and Conduct and Action and Saint-Gobain Attitudes.
• With support of the Human Resources Department, oversee all the HR issues relating to recruitment, development and training of employees as well as appropriate succession planning.

o General Accountabilities
• Oversee the general expenditure, transport, imported & local raw material and trading goods scope
• Manage the tendering processing, sourcing suppliers and quotes, and ensure compliance with the competitive process.
• Ensure alignment of procurement department to business control and ICRF requirements
• Involvement in preparing the annual procurement budget, approval, implementation and control.
• Weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting, and reviews in comparison to targets and budget.
• Implement contract management instructions, policies, procedures and purchasing charter
• Manage the supply base and supplier performance.
• Represent the company in negotiating contracts and formulating supplier agreements.
• Setting plans and strategies in place to secure the company requirements in suitable quality, price, and timing from the suitable sources.
• Keep record of and set procedures in place on dealing with non-conformances.
• Prepare and process purchase orders.
• Provide training to internal customers on best procurement practices and the procure to pay process.
• Develop and maintain record of procurement requests, goods ordered and received, and generate status reports.
• Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, payment concerns, and claims against suppliers.
• Engage cross-functionally, with production planner, warehouse, product managers, R&D and other internal stakeholders to support, ensure alignment, and cooperation with projects.
• Determine and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

o All such duties and/or activities assigned by management as and when required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Qualifications required to fulfil the role
o Supply Chain, Business Studies; Purchasing Degree
o CIPS Certification advantageous

• Specific Work Experience, Knowledge and Skills required to fulfil the role
o 5 years’ experience in a sourcing or procurement related role.
o Assertive, well spoken with good verbal and written communication skills.
o Good interpersonal, relationship and people management skills.
o Strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
o Customer focused
o An efficient and organised individual.
o Leadership skills/experience.
o Team player.
o Resilient and able to work under pressure, accepting criticism.
o Responsible in dealing with company resources.

o Knowledge of administration and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods and coordination of people and resources
o Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximising the effective manufacture and distribution of products.
