Job Description

The Women's University in Africa (WUA) is a private institution that was established in 2002 and granted a Charter by the Government of Zimbabwe in 2004.
The Council of WUA invites applications for the position of a Pro Vice-Chancellor: Planning and Finance, Business Development and Operations. This is an exciting, newly created post, offering an exceptional opportunity for a high performing individual of reputable ethical integrity to make a considerable difference to an ambitious and growing institution where his/her strategic leadership and initiatives will ensure sustainable and impressive growth.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Pro Vice Chancellor is a key member of the senior management team who reports directly to the Vice Chancellor. She/he is in charge of strategic planning, finance, administration, human resources, procurement, resource mobilisation and infrastructural development.
The main duties of the incumbent include the following:
• Planning, administration, financial management, budgetary control and defining long term financial

plans to ensure that various high level developmental, business-wide financial targets and institutional soundness are met;
• Delivering commercial growth and employing innovative ethical engagement strategies for the business units;
• Identifying and leveraging academic and research growth opportunities for the institution;
• Infusing the University's strategy and mission with university staff, and
• Implementing appropriate performance linked rewards and recognition and
• Coaching and employing corrective actions to align personnel with the University's Vision and goals;
• Setting Institutional performance targets and monitoring outcome and impact indicators;
• Overseeing the University's infrastructural development, farming and other business units operations for efficiency;
• Overseeing the efficient and effective management of the University's community development and community service programmes;
• Sourcing and maintaining funding opportunities and other beneficial linkages
• Performing any other duties assigned from time to time by the Vice Chancellor.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate should have the following key competencies and attributes:
• An earned doctorate or equivalent professional degree in Finance and Administration with experience in Economic Planning.
• A working background of at least 10 years preferably in the private sector or in institutional development;
• Demonstrated leadership excellence and analytical skills along with strategic insights Into future requirements of the business sector as well as the wider national, regional, continental and
international environment;
• Demonstrated competence and experience in the deployment, management and control of human, material and financial resources;
• Strong sense of integrity particularly in prudent use of financial resources;
• Ability to organize and supervise teams effectively;
