To lead our Engineering team. The role is pivotal in enhancing our HPC systems, storage solutions including cloud facilities while driving innovation and performance optimisation.
• Supervise ZCHPC Systems Support projects.
• Lead the design, development, and optimisation of HPC systems, storage infrastructures, and cloud services.
• Collaborate with researchers, stakeholders and clients to assess their computational and storage needs, providing effective and scalable solutions, and maintenance of all computing resources.
• Mentor and develop engineering staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
• Engage in research and development to enhance the capabilities of the HPC and storage facility.
• Ensure data security, integrity, and compliance across all services.
• Develop and implement best practices for system performance, reliability and scalability
• Conduct technical and user training.
• Recommend and oversee the procurement of hardware and software for systems and users.
• Supervise the administration of the HPC systems, including 24/7 monitoring and maintenance.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures for equipment, staff, stakeholders, visitors and clients.
• Offer support to online, onsite and remote clients and assist engineers in setting up reliable connectivity.
• Participate in the design and development of network management and user account billing systems.
• Assist with the HPC systems design, installation and configuration.
• Masters degree in High Performance Computing, Cyber Security, Cloud Engineering, Computer Hardware Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Network Engineering, Information Technology, or Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Proven experience with HPC architectures, cloud technologies, cyber security and data storage solutions
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive under pressure.
• A recognised professional certification in High Performance Computing, Network Engineering, Cyber Security or Cloud Engineering is an added advantage.
• Strong communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with confidence.
• High-level analytical and innovative thinking skills.
• Proven ability to design and implementing parallel computing, cyber security and cloud systems.
• Proven experience of collaborating with scientists, engineers, and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated research capability, with a publication or innovation record in relevant areas.
