Job Description
Seasoned and experienced Plant Operators are required to commission and operate a new gold processing plant. The recruitment will include training of incumbents by the new equipment suppliers, being part of the commissioning team and subsequent operating of the plant.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
• Basic supervision in all sections of the plant to ensure compliance and adherence to set operating parameters
• Ensure legal and regulatory compliance of the plant in line with the mining and management regulations S.I. 109 of 1990
• Managing sectional safety, health & environmental issues
• Monitoring all plant operations to meet set shift production targets
• Inspecting & monitoring all security features in the plant
• Enforcing compliance of sectional job descriptions
• Ensuring adherence to process and security procedures
• Ensuring that strict discipline is adhered to by subordinates. A track record of instigating disciplinary measures where it is necessary is required
• Producing daily and periodic shift operating reports
Qualifications and Experience
Requirements
• A diploma in mineral processing and extractive metallurgy is an added advantage
• A minimum of ten years of experience as a Plant Operator, particularly a gold processing operation
• Basic computer literacy in Microsoft packages particularly MS Word and Excel
• Previous experience in commissioning major plant is an added advantage
• Willing to relocate to the mine
• Ability to mentor junior staff
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Good report writing and presentation skills
• Knowledge of SHEQ systems
