Job Description
The successful applicant will undertake any such tasks, within the scope of their expertise, as may be directed by the Metallurgical Superintendent inclusive of, but not limited to, the following:
Duties and Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities:
• Ensures that set targets are met and liaises with Metallurgical Superintendent on matters relating to plant operation.
• Implements process adjustments or changes to enable achievement of targets.
• Monitors and corrects the process as per input from the Plant Metallurgist.
• Ensures the day to day operation of the tailings dams as per standards, procedures and legal requirement.
• Liaises with the Senior Mine Captain or relevant mining officials on matters pertaining to movement of ore from underground to the plant — mainly grade and tonnage.
• Ensures availability of stock pile and mill ore bin to their respective design capacities.
• Liaise with the Plant Engineer on all Plant Equipment maintenance workload to minimize plant operational and unplanned downtime to acceptable levels.
• Recommends equipment maintenance prioritization to maximize plant utilization.
• Recommends realistic production targets plans to enable maximum gold extraction and continuous operation.
• Conducts change behaviour management through enforcement of disciplinary measures as enshrined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) of Mining Industry.
• Recommends operating costs budget, capital expenditure and labour complement.
• Ensures that standard operating procedures are developed, documented, communicated and enforced as necessary in the plant.
• Ensures the Plant Department complies with company HSE policy, legal requirements and industry codes of practice.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent
• 3 years' supervisory experience in a gold mineral processing plant.
• Knowledge of HSEQ management systems is mandatory.
