Job Description

Our client is looking for a highly skilled panel beater to join our automotive and equipment repair workshop. The incumbent shall be responsible for assessing damaged vehicles, estimating the cost of repairs, and repairing vehicles to their original condition.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Prepares and performs scheduled maintenance according to assigned task job cards, ensuring that the best required documentation, parts and tools are obtained and used per issued instructions.
2. Carrying out inspections on body work and frames of GSE equipment and motor vehicles in general to assess extent of damage.
3. Disassembling and reassembling damaged ground equipment and motor vehicles, parts and accessories.
4. Repairing scratches, dents and other damages to the body work on GSE equipment and motor vehicles.
5. Carrying out spray painting works and final finishing and polishing.
6. Carrying out paint repairs as instructed by assigned job cards fully in accordance with approved data and procedures and as directed by the Workshop Manager.
7. Maintain good housekeeping of the working area and observing proper waste disposal procedures.
8. Oversee the performance of students on internships and assistants to ensure conformance to prescribed standard operating procedures.
9. Adheres to Occupational, Health and Safety requirements.
10. Participates in budgeting, planning activities relating to the section.
11. Assisting other Technicians with machine services and repairs.
12. Identify and report operational hazards and perform mitigation as required.

Qualifications and Experience

- 5 ‘O’ levels including mathematics, English, and science
- Holder of Class 1/ National Certificate in Panel beating or Spray painting.
- National Diploma in Panel beating, or Spray painting is an added advantage.
- 3 years post experience.
- Possession of a valid driver’s licence a must
