Job Description
Paint Chemist ( Paints Business - Bulawayo) Astra Industries
As part of strategic repositioning the position of Paint Chemist - Paints Business has arisen within Astra Industries - Plascon Zimbabwe, based at Astra Paints Bulawayo, reporting to
the Site Manager- Bulawayo.
Purpose of the Job
Responsible for the management of quality control, conformity of new products and optimization of existing products
Duties and Responsibilities
Investigating product deviation
Ensuring product quality
Optimize paint formulations and Implement new product development
Provide Technical assistance in order to secure product availability
Release quality control passed batches
Investigate customer complaints
Assist with technical information on projects (product specification, estimations etc.)
Train customers on various products and their uses
Analyze all data on non-conforming products and customer complaints for continual improvement
Qualifications and Experience
At least three years working on the job training
Interpersonal and communication skills
Sound negotiating skills
Trouble shooting and root cause analysis skills
Scenario planning, strategic insight and problem solving skills
Ability to identify, evaluate and address potentially volatile situations
Educational Qualifications & Personal Attributes
Degree in Chemistry or equivalent
Knowledge of paint technology would be an advantage
Should have knowledge in quality and OSHAS management systems
Knowledge in analysis and product testing
Have capability to present information in group meetings displaying listening skills and professional appearance
Self-motivation and ability to work under pressure
Good leadership, Strong report writing and communication skills
Collaboration and Networking
Customer focus and Problem solving
