Job Description


Reconcile allocated accounts accurately and timeously to allow efficient follow up and investigations of outstanding entries to avoid losses for the bank.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Execute reconciliation activities in line with the agreed policies, procedures and service level agreements.
Continuously maintain an understanding of policies, processes, procedures and systems and review said to ensure all reconciliations are aligned accordingly and with the view to find better ways to execute tasks, improve systems, improve training material, improve functional performance and to influence Group Standards.
Reconcile entries / records through matching in a suspense account or between accounts / records (e.g. across accounts in different legal entities or account to bank statement recon) in order to ensure sound financial control.
Take appropriate action to resolve or close-out "open" or unmatched items by creating and processing journal entries to post open items to the correct final destination or other suspense account.
Identify root cause of open / unmatched items and taking appropriate action that will result in resolution of items within defined timelines - e.g. contacting parties to make a payment in order to close out on an open debtor or credit note record.
Develop and produce substantiation record of position as a specified date(s)
Adhere to Financial hygiene practices by ensuring data used for reconciliation is complete
Prepare Journals as per defined instructions and / or required information must be sourced to ensure accuracy as a critical requirement.
Establish and build strong relationships with staff within own network in order to maximise business opportunities.
Remain abreast of all relevant changes within the reconciliations domain (e.g., policies, customer trends, technology, etc.) in order to apply this knowledge to own work base.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Requirement - Diploma with finance and accounting
Preferred Qualifications - tertiary degree in Finance and Accounting
