Reports to: Operations Director
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced National Field Services Manager to oversee and coordinate the organization’s field and farmer support operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring cost-effective and timely crop establishment, protection, harvesting, and post-harvest handling, while also driving training, farmer support, and recovery of loans advanced to farmers.
This is a senior role requiring strong technical expertise, leadership, and a passion for sustainable agricultural development.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide technical support to farmers including field selection, tillage practices, crop establishment, spraying, harvesting, and post-harvest handling.
• Develop and implement soil and field conservation programs to protect natural resources, including dams and rivers.
• Conduct soil sampling, coordinate laboratory analysis, and interpret results for optimal crop performance.
• Calibrate and maintain agricultural machinery and equipment to ensure efficiency and safety.
• Coordinate on-farm repairs, servicing schedules, and tracking of all machinery and equipment.
• Maintain databases for Irrigation Schemes and Out-grower farms’ technical support requirements.
• Monitor and evaluate support to contracted out-growers through regular reporting.
• Supervise commercial production operations across crops, livestock, fisheries, and wildlife.
• Oversee Project and Farm Managers to ensure achievement of production targets.
• Coordinate resources for farms and value addition projects to enhance productivity.
• Prepare revenue budgets and monitor financial performance of agricultural operations.
• Implement sustainable growth initiatives to achieve year-on-year turnover and profitability.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry standards.
Qualifications & Experience
• A relevant degree/ Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science or related field.
• At least 4-6 years’ experience in agricultural field management, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Proven experience in crop production, irrigation schemes, and farmer training programs.
• Strong technical knowledge of agricultural machinery, crop establishment, protection, and harvesting.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and report-writing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work with government, development agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Commitment to sustainability, environmental stewardship, and farmer development.
