Job Description

Childline Zimbabwe is a Private Voluntary Organisation which is registered under the laws of
Zimbabwe, specialising in child protection, championing, guarding and protecting their rights
through the provision of safe, confidential and child friendly reporting mechanisms centred on a
free 24 hour counselling services. It seeks to recruit a qualified and experienced individual to
take up the role of a Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Officer (Maternity
Cover).
General Purpose:
 The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning officer shall be responsible for the
Region’s data collection, verification, analysis, storage, & reporting, in accordance with the
organisation’s M&E framework as well as tracking project implementation in the Regions
against set targets

Duties and Responsibilities

 Oversee data collection & storage at Childline within the Region.
 To ensure ALL Childline data is stored safely electronically & available for retrieval.
 To maintain weekly back-up of MER electronic data at Childline.
 Conduct routine verifications of data collected, to ensure authenticity & accuracy of the
record-keeping. Verification activities are to be jointly agreed with the Departmental &
Regional Managers, and in accordance with donor requirements.
 Conduct data analysis and prepare periodic analysis reports.
 To conduct specific & timely monitoring, evaluation & research of Childline’s activities.
 To ensure minimum standards of all M&E activities (data collection, collation, verification,
storage, analysis & reporting) are maintained within the Region.
 Undertake training & capacity development of staff & volunteers in M&E activities when
necessary to ensure minimum standards are met.
 Develop & implement appropriate M&E tools (i.e. for accurate data collection, verification,
or analysis), in accordance with best practice.
 Compile monthly & annual reports on data collected, verified & analysed relating to all
regional activities.
 Share periodic reports so that the data analysed & its findings can be used to raise
awareness on children’s rights & tackle child abuse.
 Compile & submit statistical and narrative reports at regional level.
 Work with the Interim Knowledge & Humanitarian Research Manager in conducting regular
research at Childline
 Work as part of a team towards achieving the organisations objectives
 Assist with raising awareness in the community of children’s rights & issues of child abuse,
giving presentations & facilitating workshops with children, community groups & other
professionals working with children.
 Support the organisations fundraising activities in the local community & with international
donors
 Network with other stakeholders.
 Assist with writing project proposals, reports & activity plans.
 Carry out any other duties assigned by management

Qualifications and Experience

 A degree in social sciences/Monitoring & Evaluation
 Minimum of 5 years’ experience of research, and/or monitoring & evaluation.
 Good quantitative & qualitative analytical skills
 Demonstrable knowledge of child development, children rights & specifically child abuse.
 Excellent verbal & written skills, proficient in English, and Shona
 Computer literate including MS Access & various statistical package(s)
 Clean drivers licence Class 4 driver’s license.
 No criminal record
 Good interpersonal & management skills.
 Ability to work under pressure when assigned multiple tasks
 Ability to work with minimal supervision
 Strong organisational skills & time management abilities
 Ability to conceptualise, plan & prioritise activities
 Strong problem analysis & solving abilities
 Ability to commit to aims, principles & values of an organisation
 Ability to network with donors, the media & the public
 Ability to work as a team-leader, part of a team.
