Under the direct supervision of the site manager the Mobile Clinic driver mobiliser shall be responsible for driving one of our mobile clinics to various clinics and communities for service provision and assuring that all its systems, equipment and supplies are in good working order. He or she is also responsible for generating demand for program services through effective community mobilization and collaboration with the program’s community cadres deployed in various communities and hotspots. The incumbent will also perform some clerical duties as assigned and provide a variety of safe, secure and efficient transportation support to CeSHHAR Zimbabwe. The Mobile Clinic driver is obligated to respect and abide by CeSHHAR Zimbabwe safety and security policy and be guided by the road transport and traffic regulations of Zimbabwe.
Demand Generation
• Generate demand for services through sensitization sessions and community mobilization activities targeting key populations.
• Assist in setting up mobile outreach sites with necessary materials, identify and secure suitable outreach locations.
• Conduct health talks/discussions on relevant topics at all program entry points.
• Strengthen collaborations with key government stakeholders through regular feedback meetings and submission of reports.
• Engage and liaise with community leadership e.g. Chiefs, Headman, school heads, and community other community gatekeepers for opportunities to reach key populations with HIV/SRHR messages and services.
• Distributes demand generation IEC materials in KP hotspots.
• Collaborate with site teams to respond and align program needs to the demand generation needs of targeted key populations
• Participate in the planning and implementation of outreach activities including partaking in hotspot mapping exercise where necessary.
• Engage with community members during outreach, distribution and recording of Self-Test kits and IEC materials to key populations.
• Regularly distributing condoms, Lubricants and carrying out condom demonstration
• Participate in site level preparation of itineraries and report writing
Service Responsibilities
• Loading medical equipment into the van
• Driving mobile clinic to designated outreach sites for provision of services
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Driving alternate vehicle when required to transport staff members.
• Sweep interior and use disinfecting wipes on cabinet handles, surfaces, and doors daily
• Clean exterior of van as needed.
• Adhere to infection control/safety guidelines, and confidentiality policies
Driving of Staff and goods:
• Convey CeSHHAR staff and consultants to designated, approved locations. This will include traveling to the field on a regular basis
• Drive the project team around the communities during outreach
• Ensure passengers adhere to all road safety regulations
• Fulfil special request by picking up and delivering items as directed
Mobile Clinic Maintenance
• Taking note of any faults that may develop on the van and bringing them to the attention of vehicle fleet manager as soon as possible
• Ensuring that the van has the necessary accessory tools including all necessary spare parts
• Make timeous arrangements for major repairs, maintaining the project van including oil, water, tyre, service checks and any other duties that may be assigned by the office administrator to ensure a smooth project flow
• Maintenance of a clean and accurate record of all travels and fuel consumption in the van log book
• Ensure that the van is always parked in a safe, appropriate and secure area
• Fuel Management, preparing monthly fuel reconciliations for project van
• Ensure that the van is only used for CeSHHAR Zimbabwe approved purposes
• Always carry out basic safety and security checks on the vehicles as well as the routes/destinations before departure
Other
• As a representative of CeSHHAR Zimbabwe the Mobile Clinic driver mobiliser is expected to always dress and behave in a respectable manner
• The Mobile Clinic driver mobiliser will be required to commit in writing to comply with the CeSHHAR Zimbabwe safeguarding guidelines.
• A clean class two driver’s license
• Must have a valid defensive driving certificate
• Must possess automotive maintenance knowledge and mechanical aptitude
• Must have expert knowledge of driving rules and regulations
• A mature person who is well organized
• Ability to work independently but within a team framework
• Fluent in English, Shona or Ndebele
• A current Good Clinical Practice certificate and Ethics is an added advantage
• Experience driving mobile clinic units an added advantage
• Preference will be given to those having experience of working in Non-Governmental Organizations or Civil Society Organization in HIV/AIDS related programmes.
• Experience working in a reproductive research environment and working with vulnerable populations (sex workers) is an added advantage
• Experience as a driver mechanic will be an added advantage
