Job Description

•The Mental Health Officer responsibility is to conduct psychological assessments and ongoing therapeutic counselling for children and adolescents identified to be at risk by the Zvandiri team. The psychologist will also lead the development and expansion of Zvandiri’s mental health programme through the integration of innovative, child and adolescent focused mental health interventions within the Zvandiri model. Also responsible for the Integration of the Zvandiri mental health programme within MoHCC, the Department of Psychiatry and other mental health service providers, as well as, spearhead Advocacy for HIV positive children and adolescents’ mental health needs through participation in technical working groups and meetings.

Duties and Responsibilities

Counseling and attending to clinical cases
Material's developments - Mental Health basic training, screening tools
Systems development Mentorship and supervision guidelines
Ensure that psychiatric patients receive proper treatment, including psychotropic medication and psychosocial support, either within the organisation or via an alternative resource
Ensure the implementation of all Zvandiri standard mental health protocols and procedures

Qualifications and Experience

• A Masters degree in Clinical Psychology ,
• Registration with the Health Professions Council with a minimum of 5 years clinical experience in Child & Adolescent Psychology / Mental Health.
• Some previous experience with children and adolescents living with HIV essential as well as Previous research experience with children living with / affected by HIV essential
• PEPFAR experience an added advantage
