Job Description

1. Organisational Context

SolidarMed is an international development organisation, registered as a non-profit in Switzerland. Our work improves health care for over 2.5 million people in Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
In Zimbabwe, SolidarMed is duly registered with the Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe as a Private Voluntary Organisation, with certificate number PVO/04/12. SolidarMed is a dynamic and flexible organisation with a clear vision to improve access to quality health care in rural communities. In Zimbabwe, it has a long-standing cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) and supports the National Health Strategy of Zimbabwe. Projects offer support through an integrated approach in areas of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Adolescent Health, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD), mental health and eHealth. SolidarMed are currently active in four districts of Masvingo Province, namely Zaka, Bikita, Chiredzi and Masvingo. SolidarMed is also active in conducting implementation research to produce evidence that guides interactions at provincial, national, and international levels.

2. Designation

The Medical Team Leader is the day today operational lead for the Health for All (H4A) project. The role focuses on implementation across Masvingo Province while coordinating closely with the Program Director, who oversees implementation and leads high level national engagements and TWGs. The post holder will also contribute to national implementation related processes (e.g., protocols, guidelines, reporting and M&E tools) and lead a Midlands Province capacity building component across 8 hospitals.
The Medical Team Leader ensures planning, execution, clinical governance, supply chain follow-up, robust data use, and high-quality reporting as the project scales from 21 facilities (Zaka, Bikita, Chiredzi, plus Masvingo Provincial Hospital) to 175 facilities across all 7 districts of Masvingo Province.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Project Leadership: Lead day-to-day operational implementation of the Health for All (H4A) project across Masvingo Province and contribute to national protocols, guidelines, and reporting.
• Planning & Budgeting: Translate logframe and annual workplans into detailed site/district plans and phased budgets, in alignment with donor and procurement requirements.
• Service Delivery Coordination: Supervise differentiated service delivery models across 175 facilities, coordinate outreach, health promotion, and ensure uninterrupted supply of essential medicines and equipment.
• Clinical Governance & Mentorship: Provide hands-on clinical mentorship for diabetes, hypertension, and NCDs; lead case reviews, clinical audits, and quality improvement cycles.
• Data Management: Ensure timely, accurate data entry (facility registers, DHIS2, REDCap), convene dashboard reviews, and support implementation research and learning.
• Reporting & Compliance: Prepare high-quality programmatic reports, maintain risk and incident registers, and support donor visibility in communications.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with MoHCC teams, partners, and represent H4A at provincial and technical fora.
• Midlands Capacity Building: Coordinate training and mentorship across 8 Midlands Province hospitals and align learning for national scale-up.
• Team Operations: Recruit, onboard, and performance-manage project staff, oversee logistics, and enforce organizational policies.

Qualifications and Experience

• Medical degree (MBChB/MD) with full registration (MDPCZ) to practice in Zimbabwe.
• Postgraduate training in Public Health or related field.
• Minimum 5 years post-internship clinical experience, with 3 years in NCD service delivery and public health.
• Proven experience in WHO PEN/PENPlus, clinical mentoring, and training.
• Valid driver’s licence; willingness to travel across rural districts.
• Data management proficiency (DHIS2, REDCap, Excel), and experience in implementation research, reporting, and team capacity building.
• Proficiency in Shona, Ndebele and English, strong presentation and report writing skills.
Desirable Skills:
• Supply chain coordination, equipment maintenance, and pharmacovigilance experience.
• Planning, budgeting, and partner coordination experience.
• Scientific writing (abstracts, manuscripts).
