Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the position of Media and Publications Officer in the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC).

Reporting to the Corporate Communications Manager, the Media and Publications
Officer’s key responsibilities are to: -

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Engage and Manage Media Relations on behalf of the Organization.
2. Conduct Stakeholder engagement activities to establish positive stakeholder relations by acting as the Organization’s representative on matters of relevance.
3. Manage SRC Website and Social Media pages by ensuring that SRC’s social media channels/pages remain engaging, inviting and active, including occasionally live tweeting from events and monitoring commentary on the institute.
4. Compile SRC Media database.
5. Tracking media coverage and producing relevant reports.
6. Create and identify publicity opportunities for the organization through press releases and bulletins.
7. Position the organization as a responsible corporate citizen by implementing
robust Corporate Social Responsibility programs.
8. Conduct press briefing and interviews.
9. Crafting and issuing press releases, arranging interviews, and compiling press kits craft, produce and distribute magazines and newsletters on behalf of the organization.
10.Keep employees abreast of developments within the organization by distributing executive messages, prepare presentations and internal memos, and conduct meetings to share information.
11. Design, produce and distribute internal and not limited to Newsletters, brochures, presentations and SRC Magazine.

Qualifications and Experience

Person Specifications
The suitable person should be: -
1. Team player with ability to engage with different stakeholders on behalf of the organization.
2. Have sound media relations and in-depth understanding of media within the sporting sector.
3. Able to work under pressure, outside normal working hours, including evenings, weekends, or beyond the regularly scheduled work day with minimal supervision.
4. Able to exercise good judgment when communicating to the public and maintain confidential information appropriately.

Qualifications
a) Degree in Public Relations, Marketing and Journalism and Communication:
b) 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
