BACKGROUND
Mwenezi Development Training Centre (MDTC) is a local based NGO that will be implementing Zimbabwe Resilience Fund (ZRBF 2) RECLAIM project in Mwenezi, Chiredzi, and Beitbridge districts. MDTC is hiring the MEAL Assistant to support monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning activities in Mwenezi district.
MEAL Assistant
Roles and Responsibilities
• Supporting the development and implementation of M&E Plan for the Project.
• Collecting, analysing and reporting data to track project progress.
• Producing quality weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
• Facilitating accountability mechanisms such as feedback and complaints systems.
• Documenting best practices, lessons learned and success stories.
• Collaborating with project staff, partners and stakeholders to ensure effective MEAL systems.
• Providing technical support for capacity building and training on MEAL tools and methodologies.
• Conducting, baseline, midline and endline surveys.
• Developing and maintaining project indicators and logical frameworks.
• Analysing data to assess project impact and effectiveness.
• Providing evidence-based recommendations for project improvements.
Qualifications
• A degree in a relevant field such as Monitoring and Evaluation, Agriculture, Statistics, Computer Science, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• A postgraduate degree would be an added advantage.
Experience
• At least 3-5 years of experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) within development projects, preferably those focusing on resilience, livelihoods, natural resource management, and community development.
Key Skills
• Strong understanding of MEAL frameworks, methodologies, and tools.
• Experience in designing and implementing MEAL systems for projects with multiple components and outcomes.
• Ability to collect, analyse, and interpret complex data sets.
• Proficiency in using MEAL software and tools for data collection and analysis.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Specific Skills for RECLAIM:
• Experience with resilience programming and understanding of resilience frameworks.
• Knowledge of natural resource management, climate-smart agriculture, and livelihood diversification strategies.
• Familiarity with community-based approaches and participatory methodologies.
• Understanding of gender and youth inclusion principles in project design and implementation.
