Matron ii (Superintendent) X 1 Post: Sally Mugabe Central Hospital

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced members who are eligible for appointment to the above mentioned vacant post in terms of the Appointment, Performance Advancement, Regrading, Transfer, Promotion and Training Procedures for Registered General Nurses in the Health Service.
REPORTS TO: Matron/Principal Nursing Officer I

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible and accountable for the Provincial hospital nursing services. Plans, organizes, directs, manages, coordinates and oversees the activities and operations of provincial hospital nursing services.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Oversees all activities and services in the Maternity Hospital during the night.
2. Must be able to articulate the nursing process and care plan.
3. Ensures client care is individualised and research based.
4. Conducts frequent support and supervisory rounds.
5. Ensures effective use of human and material resources.
6. Monitors and evaluates patient care in accordance with agreed nursing standards, ethics and stipulated guidelines.
7. Maintains professional competency of all staff on night duty.
8. Identifies training needs of her staff and makes recommendations to the in-service committee.
9. Appraises Sisters-In- Charge.
10. Counsels staff, patients and relatives.
I l. Supervises matron I I l and all other grades of nursing to ensure a high standard of nursing care.
12. Inducts, Coaches and mentors staff in the hospital.
13. Conducts staff performance appraisals
14. Assists in recruitment and selection
15. Coordinates with other ministries and non-governmental organisations for effective delivery of nursing and health care issues

Qualifications and Experience

1. Degree/Diploma in General Nursing
2. Degree/Diploma in Midwifery
3. Degree/Diploma in Nursing Administration is essential.
4, .Any other post basic qualification would be an added advantage.
5. Applicants should be registered with the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe and in possession of a valid practising certificate.
