ADVERT - MANAGING DIRECTOR

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the launch and ongoing management of a new international
food retail franchise in Zimbabwe. The Managing Director will be responsible for establishing the brand in the local market,
ensuring franchise compliance, achieving financial targets, and building a high-performing team to drive sustainable
growth and operational excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Market Leadership
• Leverage deep understanding of Zimbabwean market dynamics, consumer behaviour, and trends
• Navigate the local regulatory environment and ensure full compliance
• Adapt international brand strategies to local market conditions
• Drive brand awareness and market penetration
Store Launch & Operations
• Lead the end-to-end store launch process from conception to operation
• Oversee staffing, recruitment, and team structuring
• Manage supplier identification, onboarding, and relationship management
• Establish operational systems, processes, and standards
Financial Leadership
• Assume full Profit and Loss (P&L) accountability for the business
• Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial controls
• Ensure operational sustainability and profitability targets are met
Brand Management
• Localize the international brand to resonate with the Zimbabwean market
• Ensure strict adherence to franchise standards, operational guidelines, and brand integrity
• Maintain consistency in customer experience and service delivery
People Management
• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing, motivated team
• Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Implement training and development programs aligned with brand standards
Stakeholder Relations
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with franchisors, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and other key
stakeholders
• Serve as the primary liaison between the local operation and international franchisor
• Represent the brand professionally in all external engagements
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Commerce, Finance, Hospitality Management, or related field
• MBA or Master's degree in a relevant discipline
• Training or certification in franchise operations and brand compliance is an added advantage
Professional Experience
• Minimum of 5(Five) years of senior management experience, preferably in food retail, hospitality, or franchise
operations
• Proven track record of full P&L management and financial oversight
• Experience in launching and scaling new business ventures or retail outlets
• Demonstrated success in multi-stakeholder management environments
