Program Summary:
The 5-year USAID-funded Improving MNCH services project’s goal is to Improve maternal, neonatal, and child health (MNCH) outcomes through increasing access to quality MNCH services and strengthening health services in five targeted provinces in Zimbabwe (Manicaland, Masvingo, Matabeleland South, Midlands, and Mashonaland West). This project will provide Technical Assistance (TA) to strengthen technical capacity of MOHCC at national, provincial, and district level to scale up high impact MNCH Interventions; enhance planning, distribution, and retention of MNCH health workforce in implementation areas; reinforce planning, management, and coordination of essential commodities and equipment procurement.
Position Summary:
The FHI360 Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) Logistics and Supply Chain Officer is responsible for managing the procurement, storage, and distribution of medical supplies and equipment related to maternal, newborn, and child health programs. The role is crucial in ensuring that the necessary resources are available and accessible for MNCH interventions, such as prenatal care, immunizations, and emergency obstetric care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate together with MoHCC District and Provincial Pharmacy Managers the distribution of MNCH supplies and equipment to health facilities, ensuring that they reach the right destination on time. Develop distribution plans, monitor delivery schedules, and liaise with the National Pharmaceutical Company (NatPharm) to facilitate the timely delivery of commodities.
Identify the MNCH supplies, and equipment needed for various programs and projects, and develop procurement plans in liaison with health facility staff.
Ensure that MNCH supplies, and equipment meet quality standards by conducting quality checks upon receipt and before distribution. Monitor expiration dates and implement proper procedures for stock management and disposal.
Monitor stock levels, anticipate upcoming needs, ensure appropriate storage conditions, and maintain accurate records of all MNCH commodities, including procurement, inventory levels, distribution, and utilization. Generate regular reports on supply chain performance, highlighting any issues or concerns.
Collaborate with MNCH program staff to provide training and mentorship on logistics management. This may include conducting workshops on procurement processes, inventory management, and distribution strategies.
Lead the system-strengthening activities of logistics and supply chain management for the MNCH program, in collaboration with MoHCC and partners.
Liaise with the Ministry of Health and Child Care and other stakeholders to ensure effective logistics support for MNCH programs. Participate in coordination meetings and share relevant logistics information.
Advocate for the provision of high-quality MNCH commodities and good MNCH logistics management practices with both government counterparts and implementing partners.
Provide technical support and advocate for strategic planning, governance, financing & PSM coordination.
Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with the MOHCC Pharmacy Directorate, provincial pharmacy manager (PPM), district pharmacy manager (DPM), development partners, and all PSM stakeholders in the country involved in the MNCH supply chain.
Provide technical assistance to MoHCC for quantification (forecasting and supply planning) of MNCH commodities, in collaboration with other program stakeholders.
Timely MNCH data collection, analysis, reporting, and feedback to facilitate data visibility and accountability.
Write routine monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for submission to relevant program stakeholders and contribute to the identification of best practices and success stories for FHI360 circulation.
Provide technical assistance for the development of tools or in developing or revising standard operating procedures (SOPs), guidelines, and other policy documents for MNCH program and supply chain management.
Provide technical assistance for the conduct of supportive supervision and mentorship at the health facilities, in collaboration with MoHCC and other PSM Partners
Actively involved in project learning activities including documenting success stories, lessons learnt, best practices and writing abstracts based on project work in supported province and districts.
Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and requirements:
Degree in Pharmacy, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
At least three to five years proven experience in procurement, inventory management, and distribution logistics, preferably in the healthcare sector.
Knowledge of MNCH programs and related medical supplies and equipment.
Experience in logistics management and ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.
A clean class four driver’s license is a must.
