Job Description: Loans Officer – Microfinance Company

**Position:** Loans Officer
**Reports to:** Accountant
**Location:** Zimbabwe
**Team Size:** 3 (including this role)

We are a small but growing microfinance company dedicated to providing financial services to underserved communities in Zimbabwe. Our mission is to empower individuals and small businesses through accessible and responsible lending.

Role Overview
The Loans Officer will play a critical role in managing the loan portfolio, assessing loan applications, and ensuring timely repayments. Reporting directly to the Accountant, this role combines loan management responsibilities with essential administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and process loan applications from individuals and small businesses, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct client interviews and credit assessments to determine loan eligibility and risk.
- Prepare and present loan proposals and documentation for approval.
- Monitor loan repayments and follow up on overdue accounts to minimize defaults.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date loan records and client files.
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports related to loan performance.
- Support the Accountant with general administrative duties, including filing, data entry, and correspondence.
- Provide excellent customer service and build strong relationships with clients.
- Collaborate closely with the small team to ensure operational efficiency and support company growth.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in microfinance, banking, lending, or a related financial services role.
- Strong understanding of credit assessment and loan management principles.
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage clients professionally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and basic accounting software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.

Working Conditions
- Small team environment with close collaboration.
- Some travel may be required for client visits and loan assessments.
- Flexible approach to handling both loan and administrative duties.
