Job Description
Lupane State University is inviting candidates from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following posts:
1. FACULTY OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES
Department of Crop and Soil Sciences
Irrigation Engineering
Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor (1 Post)
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
• Supervising students’ research/ design projects.
• Teaching at least three (3) modules in one of the following areas: Electrical Principles and Pump Technology, Engineering Physics and GIS and Remote Sensing and Fluid Mechanics.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications
Ideally the successful candidate should possess a minimum of at least, a Masters Degree in Irrigation Engineering, Irrigation Water Management, Water Resources Management or related field and first degree in Irrigation Engineering, Irrigation Water Management, Water Resources Management with a 2.1 degree class or better. A PhD in Irrigation Engineering, Water Resources Management or related field and teaching experience at tertiary level will be an added advantage.
In addition the candidate must possess:
• Extensive and published research in Irrigation Engineering, Irrigation Water Management and related areas.
• Strong research mentoring skills
• Ability to attract and manage research grants
Personal Attributes
The Department places high priority on individuals who can work well in a team environment.
Candidates should possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
A good command of both oral and written English is essential.
Candidates must also;
• Able to contribute significantly to the teaching, research and curriculum development
• Able to supervise graduate students
• Student centered
