Job Title: Lecturers on 12 months contract x5
Reporting to: HOD Business Development and Innovation.
Closing Date: 16 December 2025
Location: Bulawayo

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Contract Lecturer: Artificial Intelligence & Digital Transformation
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct applied research in AI, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Digital Twins, or Industrial IoT for mining applications.
• Teach modules in relevant fields.
Minimum Qualifications:
• BSc Honours Degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, Data Science, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrable experience and a strong research interest in one of the key areas mentioned.
• Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
• Studying towards an MSc/PhD in a relevant field is a requirement

2. Contract Lecturer: Foundry & Industrial Metallurgy
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead research projects focusing on developing local alloys from Zimbabwean mineral resources and valorizing mining waste.
• Teach modules in metallurgy or materials science.
• Collaborate with industry on practical metallurgical challenges.
Minimum Qualifications:
• BSc in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering.
• Practical experience in pyrometallurgy, hydrometallurgy, or foundry practice.
• Studying towards an MSc/PhD in a relevant field is a requirement.

3. Contract Lecturer: Drone Applications
Key Responsibilities:
• Execute research projects involving UAV-based applications for volumetric measurements, slope stability monitoring, and environmental compliance.
• Teach modules including Geomatics, Surveying, GIS, or Remote Sensing.
• Remote Pilot License (RPL) is an added advantage
• Process and analyze data from photogrammetry (e.g., Pix4D, Agisoft Metashape) and LiDAR.
Minimum Qualifications:
• BSc in Geomatics, Surveying, GIS, Remote Sensing, or Geospatial Engineering.
• Hands-on experience in UAV piloting and data processing.
• Studying towards an MSc/PhD in a relevant field is a requirement

4. Contract Lecturer: Analytical Chemistry
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver lectures and practical laboratory sessions in analytical chemistry, including spectroscopy, chromatography, electrochemical analysis, and quality control techniques.
• Conduct research in analytical method development, environmental chemistry, and industrial applications relevant to the mining and manufacturing sectors.
• Engage with industry partners to advance applied research and innovation in chemical analysis.
Minimum Qualifications
• BSc Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong grounding in instrumental analysis, environmental chemistry, and laboratory-based research.
• Registration for, or active progress towards, an MSc or PhD in Analytical Chemistry or a related field (mandatory).
• Evidence of research capability and interest in applied problem-solving.

5. Contract Lecturer: Environmental Geology & Sustainability
Key Responsibilities
• Teach modules in environmental geology, geophysics, and geochemistry, including field methods, subsurface mapping, mineral exploration techniques, and environmental assessment.
• Conduct research on earth systems, environmental monitoring, mineral resource sustainability, and geophysical or geochemical applications in mining and water management.
• Facilitate laboratory and field-based learning, integrating GIS, remote sensing, and modern analytical tools.
Minimum Qualifications
• BSc Degree in Geology, Environmental Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, or an equivalent earth science discipline.
• Demonstrated competence in geophysical surveying, geochemical analysis, and environmental assessment methods.
• Registration for, or active progress towards, an MSc or PhD in Geology, Environmental Science, Geophysics, or Geochemistry (mandatory).
• Evidence of research engagement and strong field/laboratory skills.
