We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly qualified Landscape Manager to support WWF
Zimbabwe to deliver an inclusive conservation programme in the Hwange northwest landscape, within the
broader Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA). The programme focuses on landscape-
level conservation, community engagement, transboundary coordination, and the sustainable management
of natural resources in alignment with national and international conservation priorities. The role plays a central part in sustaining WWF Zimbabwe’s operations and advancing its environmental and social impact.

Duties and Responsibilities
Major Functions
• Leads the design, planning, and implementation of landscape-level conservation programmes in the
KAZA Hwange landscape, translating strategic priorities into clear, actionable operational workplans
and ensuring their timely execution;
• Provides support to Wildlife Authorities, applying adaptive management approaches that respond to
field evidence, changing conditions, and emerging conservation risks;
• Builds and maintains strong, collaborative partnerships with Wildlife Authorities, local communities,
private sector stakeholders, and KAZA partners to ensure coordinated and inclusive conservation
efforts;
• Represents WWF in key coordination platforms and transboundary forums, promoting approaches
that integrate community perspectives and socio-economic considerations into conservation
programming;
• Oversees programme budget planning, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting to ensure
effective resource utilization and full compliance with WWF and donor requirements;
• Supports resource mobilization efforts and contributes to the development of funding proposals to
sustain and expand programme impact;
• Establishes and manages a robust Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) system to
track programme performance against defined targets, ensuring timely and accurate
reporting to WWF and donors;
• Documents lessons learned and best practices to inform adaptive management and support the
scaling of successful conservation interventions;

• Provides technical leadership to field teams and partners in key conservation areas, including
ecological monitoring, fire management, and conservation planning;
• Builds institutional and partner capacity through targeted training, mentorship, and engagement of
external consultants and specialists where required;
• Ensures compliance with all applicable environmental, social, and governance safeguard standards
in programme implementation.
Qualifications and Experience
II. Profile
Required Qualifications
• A Masters degree in a relevant field such as wildlife management, natural resource management,
ecology, environmental science, forestry, or a related conservation discipline.
• Minimum of seven (7) years advanced experience managing integrated conservation and natural
resource programme with mastery in landscaping planning and programmatic oversight within
a Transfrontier or large landscape context.
• Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, partnership development, and community-
based natural resource management (CBNRM) approaches;
• Proven track record in financial management, grant compliance, with experience working to the
standards of major international conservation funders;
• Solid experience in the design and implementation of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)
frameworks, including results-based management and adaptive management approaches;
• Knowledge of the KAZA Transfrontier Conservation Area landscape, Zimbabwe’s national parks and
wildlife management frameworks, and the relevant legal and policy environment is highly desirable;
• Prior experience working with national parks authorities, government departments, and community
structures in Zimbabwe is an advantage.
Required Skills and Competencies
• Proven strong leadership, strategic planning, programme management, and operational
delivery skills in a field-based conservation context;
• Demonstrated ability to develop and manage complex budgets, financial forecasts, and
donor-compliant reporting systems;
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, including the ability to build and
sustain effective partnerships with government, communities, the private sector, and
international conservation organisations;
• Strong technical knowledge in at least one of the following areas: ecological monitoring, fire
management, wildlife management, or landscape conservation planning;
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, field-based environment and respond flexibly
to emerging challenges and opportunities;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, including the ability to produce
high-quality reports, proposals, and technical documents;
• Proficiency in relevant data management tools and GIS applications is an advantage;
