Jointed Hands Welfare Organization (JHWO) is a local NGO (PVO 23/2013) that envisions a harm and disease-free society. JHWO implements multiple interventions across the country with offices in Harare, Chegutu, Kadoma, Kwekwe, Gweru, Chirumhanzu, Shurugwi, Zvishavane, Mwenezi, Insiza , Gwanda, Umzingwane and Mangwe. Jointed Hands Welfare Organization will be implementing Phase 1 of the Hope for Lungs Project - a Lung Cancer control intervention in Zimbabwe focused on strengthening surveillance in lung cancer, identifying and supporting hotspot districts in addressing gaps in lung cancer awareness and the barriers to care, improving access to early diagnosis and ultimately improving patient outcomes and survival rates. The Laboratory Technician will be based at Riverdale Health Centre Laboratory and will be responsible for providing accurate, timely, and cost-effective testing of patient samples to aid in the diagnosis of various diseases including lung diseases in compliance and harmony with the quality management system.
Conduct diagnostic tests for all diseases including TB, HIV Viral Load, AHD, One Health related pathogens and assisting with the logistics of collecting, storing, and transporting specimens appropriately, ordering and maintaining reagent and consumable inventories, cataloguing sample biobanks, and ensuring proper maintenance of site and laboratory equipment, record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility. Ensure that all safety guidelines are always adhered to and maintain a clean and orderly environment. Perform clerical work and computer tasks associated with specimen handling and analysis, Be aware of/and handle hazardous materials in accordance with regulations to ensure a safe working environment, Practice cost effective measures through appropriate use of laboratory supplies and equipment, Demonstrate knowledge of disease process and be able to differentiate between abnormal and normal test results. Ensure efficient turnaround time.

At least a degree in medical laboratory technology, biotechnology, chemical engineering or material sciences, at least two years’ experience, a self-starter capable of working under minimum supervision paying attention to detail, Good interpersonal and communication skills. Good working relationship with Ministry of Health and Child Care a must.
