Job Description
A Mutare-based FMCG is seeking a motivated Junior Engineer to join its Construction Department. Reporting to the Civil Engineer, the successful candidate will support the planning, supervision, and delivery of construction projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Assisting the Civil Engineer in planning, scheduling, and monitoring construction activities
• Supervising site works to ensure quality, workmanship, and compliance with specifications
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
• Preparing material take-offs, bills of quantities, and progress reports
• Enforcing health and safety standards on construction sites
• Coordinating with site foremen, tradesmen, contractors, and suppliers
• Carrying out routine site inspections and testing, and maintaining site records and diaries
• Undertaking any other duties assigned by the Civil Engineer
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution
• At least 1 to 2 years’ relevant experience in construction or civil engineering
• Sound knowledge of engineering principles, construction materials, and techniques
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or other relevant design software
• Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices on construction sites
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to be based on-site and adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced construction environment
