Job Description
Job Purpose Cassava Smartech is looking for an IS Security Architect to join its Information Systems Technical team. The successful incumbent will be responsible for identifying security design gaps in existing and proposed architectures and recommending changes or enhancements that are in line with the applicable privacy legislation and other statutory data protection requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
• Reviews current system security measures, recommends and implements enhancements.
• Conducts regular system tests and ensures continuous monitoring of network security.
• Designs, builds and implements enterprise-class security systems for development and production environment.
• Identifies and communicates current and emerging security threats.
• Creates solutions that balance business requirements with information and cyber security requirements
• Plans, researches, and designs security architectures.
• Performs vulnerability assessments and penetration tests on systems to assure security (scheduled for existing systems and pre-launch for new systems).
• Researches best ways to secure company-wide technology services infrastructure against threats and risks.
• Monitors segregation of duties to curb fraud and errors.
• Identifies cyber attackers, reports to Information Security Manager.
• Closes off security vulnerabilities in the case of an attack by liaising with internal technology services team.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualification. Skills and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Law, Information Security and Assurance, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• At least one Data Protection and/or Privacy certification such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE), Privacy Law Specialist, Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM).
• Advanced security qualifications such as SABSA (Sherwood Applied Business Security Architecture) or CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certifications are desirable.
• 2 to 4 years' experience in a similar or related environment.
• Experience within a compliance, legal, audit and/or risk function.
• Solid understanding of security protocols, cryptography, authentication, authorisation and security.
• Good working knowledge of current IT risks and experience implementing security solutions.
• Experience implementing multi-factor authentication, single sign-on, identity management or related technologies.
