IRRIGATION ENGINEER GRADUATE TRAINEE
We are seeking for a dedicated Irrigation Engineering Graduate Trainee to join our organisation. The incumbent will among other things be responsible for:
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
• Assisting in the design of irrigation systems, including Centre Pivot, Sprinkler, and Drip Irrigation systems.
• Assisting with the supervision of irrigation construction works to support quality control and adherence to specifications.
• Assisting in the development of pump station designs and supporting construction activities.
• Assisting in the preparation of detailed designs for irrigation and drainage networks for selected irrigation methods.
• Assisting in the preparation of operational, technical, and cost analyses for various irrigation options.
• Assisting with the construction of irrigation systems such as dams, canals, and ditches.
• Supporting irrigation contractors to ensure they meet required standards.
• Assisting the survey team in irrigation and development processes requiring survey work.
• Assisting in developing irrigation operations and maintenance manuals for irrigation cycles and infrastructure.
• Assisting with the supervising and monitoring of project activities to support timely completion and budget adherence.
• Assisting in the preparation of Bills of Quantities, including material estimates and work requirements, to support budgeting processes.
• Supporting technical diagnostics for malfunctioning pumping systems used in water supply operations.
• Assisting in the development and implementation of maintenance programs for irrigation systems to support long-term functionality.
• Participating in on-the-job training and knowledge-sharing activities related to the operation and maintenance of irrigation equipment and structures.
• Assisting with the design and implementation of irrigation solutions for existing and new developments under supervision.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Irrigation Engineering or equivalent.
• 1-year related experience
• Field experience in irrigation installations and maintenance is an added advantage.
Attributes
• Proficient in engineering and Design Software
• Strong agriculture data analysis skills
• Highly proficient in common computer packages.
• Working knowledge and understanding of agriculture policies, rules and regulations
• Ability to work independently and take initiative with minimal supervision
• Paying attention to detail
