The Investment Analyst is a function that provides technical support to all functions or units of the Bank with emphasis on financial and investment decision processes.
• Provide high-level analysis of proposals, and indicative and detailed business cases for investment proposals and/or indicative and detailed business cases for major capital investments or other transactions.
• Keep up to date with market developments, and areas that can affect the markets, e.g. movements in the economy, including understanding how investments fit within a regional and national context.
• Consider how the economic implications of factors such as natural disasters, weather, etc. might affect the performance of companies and funds.
• Analyze developments in local and international financial markets to inform investment decision-making.
• Interpret data on price, yield, stability, future investment-risk trends, economic influences, and other factors affecting investment portfolios.
• Develop research views on both macro and micro-level investment issues.
• Develop forecasts of business, industry, or economic conditions to inform investment decisions.
• Build and maintain integrated spreadsheet models and organize and maintain industry data.
• Communicate market and research-oriented views, investment strategies and rationales to clients of varying levels of sophistication.
• Collaborate with revenue generating units and marketing to deploy research findings to clients and/or senior management.
• Implement performance frameworks across functional areas and support financial monitoring of projects through implementation as required.
• Filter through leads to focus on the most promising opportunities.
• Analyzing financial information relating to specific companies, for example company results, profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements to determine how an organisation is positioned to deliver for stakeholders.
• Conducting due diligence on investments/business proposals/opportunities, companies and organisations by researching, analyzing financial statements and market data.
• Provide intellectual leadership by bringing new ideas and knowledge to discussions and leads strategic conversations in the asset-liability management function.
• In collaboration with the relevant functional teams, developing financial projections and building financial models through benchmarking, process analysis, and any other technical approach necessary.
• Compare anticipated and actual results and identify areas of improvement
• Create persuasive pitch decks to present potential business opportunities to the investment committee.
• Explore viable investment options and present the best opportunities and associated risks to Management, Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director, Asset & Liabilities Committee, and Board
• Compare actual and projected results and identify areas that require improvements
• Valuation of companies, both private and publicly listed, and use of the most appropriate valuation techniques applicable to a variety of corporate structures and industries Maintain confidentiality of financial information and investment decisions
• Do any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
• Knowledge and experience in financial and investment analysis and the ability to answer enquiries, triage applications and make initial assessments with the ability to research, analyze and evaluate
