The Internal Audit Manager oversees the bank’s internal audit function, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and risk management standards. The role involves planning and conducting audits across key banking operations, identifying control weaknesses, and recommending improvements. The manager prepares audit reports, advises senior management, and follows up on corrective actions to enhance governance and operational efficiency.
1. Assist to develop the organization’s yearly audit plan
2. Handle audit assignments, review all paperwork and audit reports
3. Review the reports that were prepared by other auditors
4. Initiate different project planning and help to assess risk
5. Develop audit direction for the rest of the auditors in the organization
6. Provide leadership to other auditors on various assigned tasks and ensure satisfactory outcomes
7. Perform different audit tasks which include preparation, paperwork, and other associated reports
8. Help to verify the exactness of different financial situations as they relate to liabilities, assets, expenditures, receipts, and other transactions
9. Take part in the coordination of audit assignments and ensure good interactions with the administrators, staff, external auditors and law enforcement agencies
10. Participate in the development and implementation of policies by providing short and long-term planning
11. Recommend different methods that could help to enhance and improve control procedures
12. Work with the management to resolve issues that may have been identified through audit findings
13. Conduct follow-up on all the different audit assignments given to other auditors
14. Make research on the latest trends and other issues relating to the industry
15. Guild and advise the team in the organization to ensure that the development and processes adopted are legal, and work to achieve a wide range of organizational goals
16. Ensure proper documentation of the results of the audit evaluations
17. Plan and allocate resources and staff in accordance with their skills and schedules
18. Ensure that audit software is up to date
19. Perform other related assignments as assigned by the management
1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business management or equivalent from a recognized university – minimum of an upper second class And/or ACCA/CIMA or equivalent qualification
2. CISA or CIA qualification is an added advantage
3. At least 3 years audit experience in a senior or management role
4. Experience working in a highly regulated environment is an added advantage.
