Job Description

We are looking for qualified and motivated candidates for the position of Internal Audit Clerk in the Internal Audit department. The role supports the Internal Audit function in conducting Value for Money (VFM) audits through reviews of organisational operations, projects, and programmes to ensure that resources are acquired and utilised with due regard to economy, efficiency, and effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Job Functions:
• Assist in planning and conducting VFM audits under the supervision of the Internal Auditor.
• Collect, compile, and analyse data on costs, outputs, and outcomes of projects, programmes, and operational activities.
• Review documentation and records to assess compliance with financial, operational, and performance standards.
• Prepare working papers and draft findings to support audit conclusions and recommendations.
• Participate in field visits to verify delivery of goods, services, or projects against stated objectives.
• Assist in identifying areas of potential waste, inefficiency, or misallocation of resources.
• Support the preparation of draft audit reports and recommendations for management action.
• Maintain proper audit documentation and ensure adherence to internal audit procedures and professional standards.
Perform any other audit-related duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience

Requirements of the Job:
The successful candidate for this position should meet the following criteria:
• Degree in Forensic Auditing, Accounting or a related field.
• Studying towards a professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CIA, or CIS will be an added advantage.
• At least 1-2 years' experience in internal auditing, external auditing, or accounting.
• Good knowledge of auditing standards, internal controls, and basic risk management principles.
• Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with accounting/audit software is an advantage.
