Job Description

We are seeking a resourceful Instrumentation & Calibration Engineer to manage, maintain and calibrate the Institute’s portfolio of laboratory and process instruments. The successful candidate will keep our asset register current, carry out scheduled maintenance and validations, and ensure full compliance with ISO/IEC 17025. The role shall also support the planned instrumentation distribution business (through the sister company), and shall also deliver internal technical training.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and execute preventive maintenance and calibration schedules.
• Perform routine checks, diagnostics, servicing and repairs; liaise with OEMs for complex faults.
• Implement, document and continuously improve quality procedures aligned to ISO/IEC 17025.
• Conduct equipment validations and issue calibration certificates.
• Provide on-site and remote user training for staff and clients.
• Support pre-sales demos, installations and after-sales service for distributed instruments.
• Attend manufacturer courses and share knowledge internally.
• Design or extend software/AI solutions that integrate with instruments for data acquisition and reporting.
• Prepare performance and compliance reports for management and accreditation bodies.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electrical/Electronic, Mechatronics, Biomedical, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Ideally ≥ 2 years’ hands-on experience in calibration, maintenance and validation of laboratory/process instrumentation.
• Proven familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 calibration-lab requirements, or strong interest.
• Strong software-development skills (Python, C#, etc.) with evidence of completed apps; AI/ML experience a distinct advantage.
• OEM/vendor certificates an advantage.
• Excellent communication, documentation and training abilities.
• Self-driven, organised, and able to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Clean Class 4 driver’s licence is a must.
