Job Description
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following position that has arisen within the Engineering Division at the Standards Association of Zimbabwe. Purpose of the job is to check that designs are safe and that the correct materials are specified. To check that the designer has not made unsupportable assumptions or applied incorrect logic and that arithmetic errors have been identified and corrected. To ensure that a proposal has been designed to the required standards, criteria and legislation.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Carrying out inspections on pressure vessels, boilers and accessories according to standard procedures.
• Approval of all inspection reports.
• Prepares, compiles, submits, and maintains records, reports, and schedules.
• Assist in the training of junior staff.
• Maintenance and improvement of the ISO/IEC 17020 / 17025 Laboratory Management Systems.
• Keeps record of all inspection equipment.
• Ensures equipment is properly calibrated.
Qualifications and Experience
• B Eng (Hons) Degree in Industrial Manufacturing/Production Engineering or equivalent
• A minimum of 4 years post qualification experience in a testing/inspection environment.
• Training in ISO/IEC 17020 / 17025 Laboratory Management Systems
• Level 2 Certification in at least 2 of the following NDT techniques (Dye Pen, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic and Industrial Radiographic Testing)
• Excellent use of ICT tools and research capabilities
• Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills.
