Position title: Information and Communication Technology Assistant

Context of the position
Established in 1949, SOS Children's Villages International (CVI) is a dynamic, international social development organization working globally to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of children without parental care and those who are at the risk of losing it.
SOS Children's Villages Association of Zimbabwe is a member of SOS International - a worldwide children's social welfare organisation, providing vulnerable children without homes with a family home and educational opportunities as well as strengthening families to reduce poverty.
Mission of the position:
To support the implementation of the approved ICT4D projects for the location and ensure that
the project goals are realized. S/He also assists the ICT Manager by providing ICT technical
support to co-workers and maintaining ICT infrastructure..
Key performance areas and main responsibilities:
1. ICT4D
• Support Implementation of ICT4D projects in the location.
• Facilitate digital skills training for the approved project participants
• Train project participants on various systems and technology tools used in the ICT4D projects.
• Contribute to objectives of the Digital Village Project curriculum area within the location
• Accountable for ICTequipment allocated to the Digital Hub and ICT equipment handover for safekeeping
• Monitor the progress and achievement of the learners and identify the appropriate intervention strategies for underachieving learners;
• Keep records of learners’ progress and achievement and set appropriate targets
• Maintain the ICT infrastructure for location digital hub
• Maintain up-to-date inventories for ICT4D hardware
• Conduct cybersecurity awareness for all ICT4D project participants.
• Collaborates with co-workers in the development of ICT4D concepts
2. ICT Support
Technical Support:
• Provide onsite and remote support for users’ daily technical issues and provide timely and effective solutions;
• Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems and networks.
• Manage helpdesk support and resolve user issues promptly.
System Maintenance:
• Ensure regular maintenance of ICT infrastructure, including computers and network devices.
• Perform data backups and recovery operations.
• Monitor system performance and security, addressing any vulnerabilities.
• Maintain up-to-date hardware and software inventories
User Training:
• Conduct training sessions for staff on various technology tools and software.
Cybersecurity:
• Assist in monitoring and mitigating cyber threats.
• Ensure the safe custody of all ICT equipment and systems.
• Monitor ICT (physical and network) security and report any risks or incidents to the supervisor
Administrative Tasks:
• Prepare reports on ICT infrastructure and activities.
• Support in the roll-out of new ICT applications and systems.
• Maintain an up-to date ICT documentation of all ICT services at the location; infrastructure, hardware, network, licenses, location access credentials and any ICT related service or contracts.
• Perform additional responsibilities and duties as requested by the supervisor within the frame of the technical areas of expertise.
3. Child Safeguarding (CS)
• Ensures that SOS program do no harm to children and beneficiaries.
• Carries out all work processes with a strong focus on preventing potential CS risks procedures. CS reports should be made to the national CS focal person or any other member of the national CS team and/or to respective line managers.
Requirements
Competencies:
Excellent Instructor Skills; Excellent organization skill in providing help online or onsite; Understanding of Microsoft network environments; Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure; Good communicator with staff, children and youths; ICDL Certified Trainer; Basic Hardware and Software Maintenance Skills; Basic knowledge in Microsoft windows server and client operating systems; Knowledge in ICT4D implementation; Knowledge in Cyber Child Safeguarding and Cyber Safety; 2 Years strong working experience in ICT.
Qualifications
BSc degree in Information Technology/Information Systems/ Computer Sciences or Diploma in Education majoring in ICT; ICDL Certified Trainer
