ICT Projects Engineer: National Centre (1 Post)

Duties and Responsibilities



Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Working with senior ICT staff and business units to provide professional and efficient delivery in ICT projects. The ability to drill down into initial requirements to develop a set of technical requirements and deliverables, to formalise and align the process of delivering updated and new ICT services throughout University;
2. Ensuring that all ICT projects are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the University;
3. Managing the structured transition of production systems to support and systems maintenance functions;
4. Assisting business units to develop business cases for the projects;
5. Driving digital innovation and serves as a cross-functional change agent across the University;
6. Participating in the developing, implementing and coordinating of operational and governance procedures, including change management;
7. Assuring that ICT quality standards are adhered to throughout the life cycle of a system;
8. Gathering metrics for ICT project progress against plan, requirements, quality measures and standard processes;
9. Exploring possibilities for identifying new projects of significant importance to the institution, and building proposal to deliver and supporting these projects;
10. Monitoring and validating that ICT projects execution adhere to ICT policies and standards;
11. Consolidating financial reporting, and liaising with ICT managers to ensure projects are delivered within agreed budget.
12. Preparing technical and user documentation for entire systems and interdependent applications;

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and Experience

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related;
2. Possession of a Master’s degree in the relevant field will be an added advantage;
3. A PMP certification is an added advantage;
4. A minimum six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in ICT services delivery and the ICT technology that is used in universities or tertiary education, including experience in developing and supporting integrated institutional systems is required.
