Job Description

Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) is inviting suitably qualified personnel to fill in the following post:

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop the University’s ICT strategy, which identifies the future direction of the use of technology, including solutions and opportunities to enable achievement of the University’s goals and objectives
• Develop, review and establish ICT policies and management systems to support the implementation of Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University strategies.
• To oversee procurement of all shared ICT resources and services, establishing commercial partnerships and external services where they can add value, resilience and agility to services.
• Liaise with external bodies, contractors and service providers in the provision of an effective and efficient ICT service.
• Procure, develop and maintain communication systems including email and website, ensuring innovative, effective and practical solutions whilst obtaining best value.
• Accountable for the provision of all ICT infrastructure systems & support services; servers, LAN, telecommunications, remote access & Desktop support
• Ensure that Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University meets legal and contractual obligations relating to ICT resources, systems, services and usage, complying with legislative requirements (e.g. data protection, safeguarding and licensing requirements).
• Manage ICT staff including training, performance management and assigning accountabilities and tasks, assisting with the recruitment of staff members to ensure effective performance of the team and support service.
• To support users to exploit all available services through effective engagement, communication and training.
• Planning and overseeing all Information Technology Systems and their evaluation according to established standards.
• Responsible for the overall modernization agenda of the University as reflected in the Transformative Strategic Plan of 2023-2028
• Ensure efficient and effective access to ICT services by staff and students to support the core business of the University.
• Lead the selection, acquisition and implementation of new systems and applications and ensure their integration with the organisation’s existing systems and enterprise systems and ensure the provision of technical support to the users of the systems
• Establish and control of ICT budget.
• Maintain optimal security, availability, integrity and performance of overall ICT infrastructure
• Any other duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor

Qualifications and Experience

• Have a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering/PhD, or similar relevant areas of specialization.
• At least three (3) years relevant post qualification Managerial experience in a University or an organisation of equivalent standing is an added advantage.
• In-depth experience and knowledge of enterprise IT concerns and technologies, including but not limited to: security administration, network administration, project management and systems administration
• Strong leadership skills with resilience and a proven ability to lead, motivate, coach and develop staff.
• Strong communication skills required
• Demonstrable ability to deliver to targets, KPIs, meet deadlines, prioritise, and work under pressure, when necessary, with minimal resources.
• Practical with high integrity, honesty and ethical standards.
