Job Description

The Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) is the largest and comprehensive Open & Distance electronic Learning (ODeL) university in Zimbabwe that offers lifelong learning in an affordable and flexible manner.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced professionals to fill vacant posts that have arisen within the University.

Duties and Responsibilities

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Administering staff disciplinary and grievance matters within the University and producing the necessary paper work in liaison with direct supervisors; • Attending to all staff disciplinary hearing sessions within the University up to the Labour Court level; • Servicing Collective Bargaining meetings and producing minutes thereof; • Servicing Joint Works Council meetings and producing minutes thereof; • Initiating review of policies bringing the same into conformity with any changes in the national policies, namely Labour Act and related regulations; • Preparing labour related reports and/or position papers as may be requested by Management from time to time; • Monitoring compliance with the National Labour Policy, Health and Safety regulations and any other relevant statutes that may be promulgated from time to time; • Offering counselling services to staff members seeking such service at personal level or on work related matters; • Attending to annual budget and related matters within the Staff Development, Training and Labour Relations portfolio; • Identifying staff training gaps and recommending appropriate or relevant courses and Training Institutions that can be used to fill the training gap; • Conducting induction courses for new staff members; • Organising training programmes that enhance staff members' work skills; • Processing staff members' applications for study leave; • Processing applications for exemption from payment of fees by staff members and their dependents; and • Performing any other duties as directed by the Manager, Staff Development, Training and Industrial Relations.

Qualifications and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• A Bachelor' s Degree in Human Resources Management, Psychology, Sociology; • A Diploma in Human Resources Management/Personnel Management/Industrial Relations/Training Management from institutions such as the Institute of People Management of Zimbabwe (IPMZ) and Higher Examination Council (HEXCO) is a pre-requisite; • Possession of a Master's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Sociology or Psychology will be an added advantage; and • Two (2) years relevant post qualification experience in Human Resources Management.
