Job Description

The Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) is the largest and comprehensive Open & Distance Electronic-Learning (ODeL) university in Zimbabwe that offers lifelong learning in an affordable and flexible manner.
Suitably qualified, experienced and motivated candidates are invited to apply for the following vacant positions that have arisen in the Zimbabwe Open University.

HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER: HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT: HUMAN RESOURCES UNIT: (1 POST)

Duties and Responsibilities

 Providing health, safety and environment to all Departments including continuous
awareness;
 Identifying and sensitising staff on health and safety issues;
 Conducting health and safety wellness activities in the University;
 Conducting Health and Safety audits throughout the University making appropriate recommendations;
 Conducting safety drills with staff at all the Campuses;
 Compiling Health, Safety and Environment Reports and Statistics;
 Provision of the latest Health and Safety information and sourcing for resources;
 Maintaining appropriate records for the portfolio;
 Creating safety manuals and policies;
 Creating and reviewing important health and safety documents;
 Performing any other duties as assigned by the Manager, Staff Development, Training and Industrial Relations.

Qualifications and Experience

 A Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Health or Environmental Studies;
 A professional certificate related to Health, Safety and Environment (OSHEMAC, NEBOSH)
 At least two (2) years relevant experience in Health, Safety and Environment;
 A certificate in First Aid is an added advantage.
 Possession of a Masters’ Degree in the above area will be an added advantage;
